Podcast: Untitled Notre Dame USC Football Podcast – Episode 10.5 Michigan and Miami Ohio Recap
In this week’s episode, we dive deep into the contrasting fortunes of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans after their weekend matchups. While both teams took to the field, the outcomes couldn’t have been more different.
After a bit of preamble discussing off-field topics like NIL deals and the fun of watching games together and when we should do it again, we finally hit the main event: Michael’s reaction to USC’s disappointing loss to Michigan. Spoiler alert—he’s not happy. The Trojans went from almost clinching a win to succumbing to a shocking, last-minute touchdown drive from a team that literally couldn’t pass the ball. We can’t overlook the effort from USC quarterback Miller Moss, who showed resilience despite a historically poor performance from the offensive line. However, the frustration with the defense and head coach Lincoln Riley for letting this game slip away was palpable. The familiar refrain of “it’s the defense’s fault” echoed once again, leading us to ponder what’s next as USC prepares for their matchup against Wisconsin at home.
On the brighter side, the Fighting Irish showcased their dominance against Miami located in Ohio. Quarterback Riley Leonard shone, particularly with his running ability, hinting that this might be his forte. Greg shared an intriguing theory that Marcus Freeman’s games don’t necessarily follow a pattern, with each matchup standing on its own. He’ll be live in South Bend for the next game, feeling optimistic about the Irish as they face the Louisville Cardinals.
Tune in for all the insights, analysis, and a look ahead as we continue to track both teams’ journeys this season!
