My Media Log 2021: Week 1
At the end of the year, Steven Soderbergh shares a list of everything he’s watched and read. He may be a famous director whose tastes probably vary greatly from mine (even if he does enjoy Below Deck), but the idea of keeping a list of everything I watch sounds like a fun project. Having a log of everything I’ve watched would allow me to see what I am actually consuming throughout the year. Please notice that unlike Soderbergh, the list will only be things I’ve watched. Reading is a luxury at the moment, and the two books I’ll finish this year will not have an impact on the list.
What will the list include? Anything I actively watch on one of my many screens. These are the things I am choosing to watch or something so good it grabs my full attention like anytime I find Roadhouse somewhere on TV. The list will be an honest reflection of what I’m watching and will have everything from Netflix shows to 1-hour network procedurals. Even YouTube videos will be logged on the list. What won’t be included are shows or movies I have on in the background, like a football game I don’t care about or Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. The plan is to update the list each week. Entries will be listed in no particular order and I’ll only add comments when I feel they are necessary or warranted.
Here’s to week 1
Cobra Kai – Season 3. Yes all of season 3
Narcos – Season 3, episodes 4,5,6
Star Wars: Clone Wars – Season 3, episodes 14,15,16
The Great British Bake Off – Season 11, episode 3
The Challenge: Double Agents – Season 36, episode 4
Binging with Babish – Sourdough Broccoli Pizza from Inside Out
Basics with Babish – Episode 98 Potstickers
Matty Matheson: Just A Dash – Season 2, episode 7 Beef Cheek Barbacoa Enchiladas
Ted Lasso – Season 1, episodes 1-6. When I thought about putting this list together there was no doubt in my mind that I would be writing a little something about how fun Cobra Kai is to watch, but then Ted Lasso happened. When the show originally came out, I remembered the funny NBC soccer commercials and thought to myself this could be something to watch one day. Then I started seeing positive reviews everywhere so we gave it a chance. The use of “we” here means that this is a show my wife and I watch together. The highest of praise really. Back to Lasso, he did not disappoint. The episodes are under 30 minutes, funny and have a dash of heart. It’s the best you could ask for. Give Ted Lasso a chance. Once we finish the season maybe I’ll write more about it.
